I have been afraid of writing this blog for a very long time. Why, because it's a topic I am very passionate about, and I was worried it would become a never-ending piece. However, I decided to tackle this the way I do with any daunting task, one bit at a time. Also, this may become a series who knows, let's see how it goes and certainly let me know if you enjoyed this blog and if you found the information useful.
I often get asked how I started my own business, how I got my side gigs, and first things first I ALWAYS offered to help companies with pro-bono work if it afforded me an education in return. I remember when I was event planning for a few years and had a nice rotation of paid events/clients, I didn't have the time or need to work any events for free. However, I met this man that ran an event company and hosted some of the biggest and hottest events in NYC and worked with top clients such as Google, Tribeca Film Festival, etc. I immediately offered to help him on events and in return observe running an event with high-end clientele, nice size budgets, with open creativity. I can then take what I learned and not only use that knowledge for my business but pass it along to the next event planner for their growth in the industry.
As the years passed by I wanted to do things for myself, run my own business, and master Giganomics! I read books, magazines, taken many courses but my favorite to date was the live event with Tony Robbins, just AMAZING! I love learning from other via webinars, blogs, websites, Meet Ups, you name it. And what I've learned is to share share share with others and give them some of the great resources I've found throughout the years to help you start your own business.
